A great place to start is with Dr. Yoni Freedhoff’s book, The Diet FixIt is not a diet book but a means for you to understand the psychology behind weight loss efforts, why we fail,  and how to set up our environment to be supportive of our efforts instead of it being a minefield of temptation.

I also use the app, MyFitnessPal as a great means of quantifying what you eat and helping you take control of your food intake.
